Sator Gran Maestro Tintilia del Molise 2018

Lyle Fass
9.5

Huge nose of dark black and red fruits, spice up the wazoo, tobacco, smoke, earth notes and tree bark. Unreal complexity and layering. Silky, sweet and so deep. Amazingly light on its feet for such a big wine with velvety, sweet and deep tannins. A brilliant and contemplative line. — 16 days ago

Ramitello Molise Red Blend 2017

A blend of Montepulciano (85) and aglianico(15). Aroma is a strong spicy and herbal character. Nutmeg and Rosemary. Hint of cocoa, touch of date and a bit of currant. Lots of cocoa and black cherry in the flavor. Fairly full bodied with a bit of sweetness and balanced by tannins from the barrel. Older, so somewhat musty, would love to have a younger vintage. — 5 months ago

Militum Christi Aglianico Riserva 2008

Pardon the absence - we’ve been ravaged by COVID (despite being 3x vaxxed) and our olfactory sense has finally crossed the threshold—no longer feel like I’m smelling everything though a thick blanket. For our first wine back we chose a big one - 2008 Molise aglianico from @Lyle Fass - served cellar temp we’re able to pick up on some nuances - leather, tannin, medium finish, but not much else. Lovely to be drinking wine again and looking forward to full olfactory recovery. — 2 years ago

This freak show of a wine I have a soft spot for. Pure Tintillia from Molise. The nose is just crazy. Nuts, anise, blackberry syrup and fresh blackberries. So much to the aromas. They are so present. Not wispy. Mean, evil aromas. But you cannot look away. Pasolini liquified. Rich but fresh and has so much energy. Velvety tannins that gain substance with air. Chewy and dense but also somewhat light on its feet. Long finish and very fresh. Really intense. But also elegant. A wine of contrasts. Let’s see what air does. But a great wine despite my meandering review. — 3 months ago
