White Zin I can get behind. I love Pedroncelli Zin (the red stuff) so had high hopes, and this did not squash my dreams. Thank goodness. Because nothing says heartbreak like a go-to winery doing you dirty. Omigod what has my life become? I’ll get on with a flavor profile. It’s like a fruit punch but not sweet and has the body of something with a bit of residual sugar but...it’s pretty dang dry. With a hint of green interestingly enough. Would recommend. — 12 hours ago
Taste a little like I would imagine a Zin grown in the Northern Rhône. Nose has maple syrup, sweet blackberry, and surprising granitic minerality. Equal parts savory and fruity in the mouth. Ripe but not jammy. Very full but the acids are decent and the tannin is very soft and fine. Nice effort! — 3 days ago
This is a fun Zinfandel, if not one that bowls me over. The nose is complex enough, with dark fruit, spice, smoke and black pepper. The palate shows plenty of blackberry and plum with oak spice and licorice. A long finish leaves the mouth a bit tart. — 13 days ago
Pretty color of dark Ruby with a short reddish rim. Fruit forward with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.
Showing black fruits with earth, chocolates, tobacco, spices, mocha, peppercorn aleather.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins.
This is a nice surprise. A very enjoyable Zinfandel.
Good now and will be better in the next 3 years.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show some tannins.
Less than 500 cases produced.
14.8% alcohol by volume.

Purple-red, moderately to highly extracted pigment, very good clarity. Leather, mint-eucalyptus and red fruit (raspberry, strawberry, maybe blackberry) notes in nose, with a hint of butter and prune. Black currant and butterscotch flavors, some seed bitterness and chewy tongue coating tannins in finish. Mild skin astringency initially. Needs time for tannins to die down, but flavors are “good to go” on opening the bottle. Tart cherry and an almost-cranberry flavor emerge after 90 minutes. Yummier than I remember my previous tasting of this vintage. — 12 days ago
Beautiful ripe blackberries and raspberries on this fruit forward nose. A light pie of baking spice, dense homemade crumby crust and compote. Juicy and delicious. Telltale nose is true to the palate. Incredible value. Drink now through the next 4-5 years. — 10 days ago
This is certainly the most interesting Zinfandel I’ve tasted in quite some time, and also one of the best. Montelena sourced Irish oak from a certain distillery for some of the aging. I found this remarkably right bank Bordeaux like with ripe aromas of plums, blueberry pie, cassis, figs, chocolate, spice box and tobacco leaf. Very complex and aristocratic expression. Superb vintage! — 6 days ago
At pop and pour it was jammy with ripe black cherries, cola, and plums. As it opened up the flavors stretched out and revealed more depth with the round fruit giving way to white and black pepper as well as more intense less ripe dried fruit notes and a hint of cedar. With food the black pepper moved to the foreground of the finish and the smooth tannins popped out. Really great stuff! — 4 days ago
Pop and pour... black fruited simplicity. Soft, supple, poundable...this is quintessential pasta/pizza table wine. Don’t think... drink, refill, drink again! Better than it needs to be... thank you Mike Officer for supplying this quality glass of juice. California Zinfandel of this quality and price makes me smile. — 13 days ago
