Muti Rías Baixas Albariño 2022

Slow attack but strong finish. Proper Rias Baixas but a nod to the new world. — a month ago

Tastes like a Burgundy. Not a stellar Burgundy. But a Burgundy nonetheless. — 3 months ago

Las Gundiñas Lomas de Valtuille Bierzo Mencia 2020

Had some of the green notes that reminded me of Côt in Loire, taught but still elegant, needed some air, this bottle didn’t have a ton of fruit and I wondered if others might have a bit more. — a month ago

La Vizcaina El Rapolao Bierzo Mencía 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2020 pours a deep ruby purple with a near opaque core and a magenta rim; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is youthful with notes of Montmorency cherry, tart plums, licorice, purple flowers, cocoa, and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Tasty stuff and a very nice pairing with braised short rib. Drink now through 2040. — 3 months ago

PnP. Modestly dark purple color. Would never guess Spain from the nose and palate. This is straight up Rhone! Dark cherries, meaty/earthy, some tobacco, and subtle herbs. Nice depth and finish. Solid restaurant list value. — 3 months ago
