Franci Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2016

Reddish in color with medium intensity. A very pretty color.

Spicy nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing cherries, black currants, plums, tobacco leaf, light oak, spices, chocolates, licorice, coffee and black tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Sangiovese from Montalcino, in Tuscany. Elegant with a big mouthfeel, and looks so much lighter than it feels.

This Brunello Riserva from the great 2016 vintage is still young, and needs a few more years of bottle time. However, already enjoyable even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years.

Wine Enthusiasts 92 points.

Well balanced and complex. Fruity, easy drinking and very impressive.

100% Sangiovese grapes were aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 4 years.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

Franci Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2007

Elegant & mature. Slight bricking. Trace tannins on opening but blew off within a few hours and only mild on day 2. Nose is ripe plum and balsamic. Palate is soft and elegant with mouthwatering layers and layers of dark fruit, cherry, leather, undergrowth, red clay. Long soft satisfying finish. To be savored. — 5 months ago
