Au Paradis Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

2013 vintage. Decanted and tasted after two hours. Medium body. Leaning heavily towards a feminine-styled Cabernet and has dropped nearly all of the braggadocio of youth. As mentioned with another reviewer @Jay Kline not even close to being as exciting as the producer’s Les Pavots bottling and fairly one-dimensional. More than a bit disappointing given the initial acclaim. 05.29.25. — 3 days ago

Estate Bottled Au Bon Climat La Bauge Au-dessus Pinot Noir 2015

This isn’t your average Pinot Noir. No, this is the kind of wine that slinks into the room with quiet confidence, drops a sharp one-liner, and makes you question everything you thought you knew about wine. Unpretentious but impeccably crafted, with just the right amount of attitude. On the palate, the fruit—cherries, raspberries, and plums—is vibrant, alive, like it’s been plucked at the peak of its existence. But then comes the earth: a bit of cedar, a dash of spice, and that elusive minerality that makes you wonder if you’re drinking wine or walking through a misty vineyard at dawn.

The acidity? Razor-sharp but not overwhelming. It’s like the sarcastic friend who keeps you grounded. The tannins are there, smooth and silky.

And the finish? Long. Real long. Like the kind of story you hope never ends, full of fruit, spice, and a faint echo of oak.

RIP Jim. Can still taste the 1991 vintage. A formative CA pinot pioneer. Cheeky pinot title...

Gotta share a bottle, maybe on the wall above.

Au Bon Climat

Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir 2006

Took a bit of time for the funk to blow off but once it did it was drinking nicely. Not much life left though, but amazing a California Pinot could last this long. — 2 months ago

Au Bout du Monde Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Chardonnay

Winner of a white burg lineup. Everything is there in balance: nose with citrus, a whiff of floral reduction, a touch of almond sling and grapefruit pith. Palate has vibrant acidity, mouthfeel and a bit of phenolics. Nothing is wow but everything is very good and in balance — 4 months ago

La Bauge Au-Dessus Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir 2019

Quite light ruby , with a wide ruby garnet rim. Quite sweet red fruit at first with some raspberry , strawberry and red cherry notes , dried flowers as well , rose , violet and an earthy note . Quite elegant and precise . On the palate this is again elegant and restrained , very pretty red fruits , juicy but still fresh acidity . Light tannins balanced alcohol . Cherry , raspberry and wild strawberry . Herbal tinged , slightly earthy finish . Drinking very well now and will continue to do so over the next 3-5 years or so — 7 months ago

If only this was available for a few € less it would be a perfect house chard for me. Very solid. — 2 months ago

Au Pied du Mont Chauve

Montagny 1er Cru Chardonnay 2019

Wow. Excellent on the nose. An amazingly soft & delicate dance on the palette that twirls a classic chard with a soft vanilla and buttery background with just the right citrus finish. Need to buy more than one bottle at a time! — 5 months ago
