15' Kind Howell MT SB. "Not found on delectables".Inviting floral nose to it. Palate- This is a high-toned SB driven by citrus, grapefruit, pineapple & pear. The fruits have light tones of minerality & acid to it. Reminds me of a combination between Arkenstone/Adamvs Howell MT SB's. — 7 years ago

Killer SB. Not much of a nose to speak of. Palate is delicate and balanced. Apples, sugar, and malt. Medium body. My current benchmark SB is the 2012 Adamvs. This was in the ballpark, but not quite there. — 7 years ago

This was served during my annual WWC hosting. Typical format of sparkler, three whites, four reds, one dessert, all served blind.

Decanted an hour. Acquired during a visit to Melka a few years back. Last bottle of a 3-pack, and poured next to a 2016 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc. 100%SB and 100% barrel fermented. This was the SB that opened my eyes to how good SB could be 5-6yrs ago. The tropical aromatics (pineapple, lots of guava, white peach) alongside such a rich yet balanced palate (glycerin like, oak only noticeable in texture, not taste). Lemon cream with a puckering finish.

As an aside, I know these “super SauvBlancs” have become popular. Melka must be at the forefront thanks to involvement in V29, DANA, Lail, Melka, ADAMVS, and countless others from the Atelier Melka team. — 9 months ago

One word. INSANE! I've heard all about Haber from @Shawn R and @Martin G Rivard and I'm more than pleased to say that their recommendations are totally spot on! Tonight was the Taste of Howell Mountain event in Dallas and the line-up was absurd. Aloft, Adamvs, Lamborn, Dunn, Outpost, O'Shaughnessy and many other rock stars. After tasting through many '13s and '14s, the '14 Haber Howell Mountain was the Wine of the night without a doubt. His '13 was great and when he said his '14 was excellent I thought it couldn't surpass it...it most definitely did. Buy this stuff up! The nose is out of this world...smoked meats, caramel, candied almonds. Jackpot! — 7 years ago

2014 vintage. This historical estate with great terroir surrounded by famous neighbours like Angélus, Ausone, Pavie etc. is going from strength to strength after it was bought by Denise and Stephen Adams (also owners of Château L'Enclos in Pomerol and ADAMVS in Napa Valley). 2014 vintage. 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Biodynamically farmed (since 2009, certification in 2020). Intriguing attractive nose with an amazing minerality, intertwined with cassis and a hint of truffle. In the mouth it is initially a bit severe, if classy. I would recommend decanting or taste it over several hours. After a few hours the fruit shines through compensating the tight tannic structure and the acidity. Built to age, I feel this will deserve a higher score in 5 or 6 years. It's a very classic restrained wine that definitely has an understated class. Nice value at under 50 euros if you like this style. — 4 years ago

Delia Viader is making wonderful Bordeaux style wines up on Howell Mountain (which is quickly becoming my favorite region...Dunn, ADAMVS, Arkenstone, Outpost...what's not to love?). She is a great inspiration to us all, and as you taste her wines, you can taste the brilliant acidity, firm tanins and the fruit is a early season strawberry and cassis. — 8 years ago
