S Agiorgitiko & Syrah 2011

This red wine is from the Peloponnese which is the southernmost part of the Greek mainland. Agiorgitiko is native to this peninsula. It is rich Ruby in the glass with aromatics of plum, prune, licorice and tar. For the warm sunny conditions this is lacking the fruit depth compared to say an Australian red - more like an Etna red. Finishes with fine powdery tannins and an astringent touch. The following day the palate reminded me of a Tuscan Sangiovese with sour cherry and fine grainy tannins. Enjoyable - would buy again. — 2 months ago

An absolutely fantastic Greek blend - very well refined with a major presence of dark red fruits, chocolate and tobacco - a serious red but light on the palette. Finishes well. Do t pass this one by and pair it a soft Brie or a good mushroom dish! — 18 days ago
