Vini Menhir Salento

Vega Salento Negroamaro Primitivo 2015

Thick and inky. Steak pairs well with the wine. After a day it opened up really well. Tannins still holding on with lush mouth watering acidity that compliments the red and blue fruit (think blueberries and raspberries), with some wet underbrush on a fall day, moist crisp air and freshness. It’s yum. — 3 days ago

Unico Ribera del Duero Tempranillo Blend 1961

Rich and aromatic. Violets, caramel, intense blackcurrant and insense. Really deep fruit, leather, iron, garrigue. What a bottle! — 7 days ago

Imperial Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2015

Striking a balance between traditional and modern Rioja, the Imperial Reserva is often the most compelling wine in the CVNE lineup; at least to my palate and this bottle is a perfect example as to why. Tasted double-blind, the bouquet is perfumed and very pretty with bright, delicious cherries, tobacco, dill and green olive. On the palate, the dark cherry fruit is generous and silky with sweet and savory spices. Wonderful texture. Sturdy structure. Deftly representing the best of both worlds, this is a serious wine that happens to be a crowd pleaser as well. I called this 2014 Rioja Reserva (Viña Ardanza if anyone cares). Wasn’t far off! — 4 days ago

Reserva Rioja Tempranillo 2015

Founded in 1879, named after the winery's initials, but a mistake - the 'V' was written as a 'U' - led to the creation of the Cune label. A blend of 85% Tempranillo with 15% Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo, dark Ruby with aromas of ripe red and black fruits with a earthy woody nose. On the palate raspberry and blackberry flavors with vanilla spice, licorice and notes of cacao. Well balanced with lively acidity, soft tannins will only get better, long ending with sweet fruit and earthy spice character. Nice! Tasting Sample! — 8 days ago

Cune Crianza Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2016

First, this is a real value and solid wine for less than $15, a Tempranillo with about 15% Mazuelo and Granacha. Deep Ruby with lively aromas of red fruits and spicy tobacco. On the palate red plums and fresh cherry flavors with cacao and tobacco notes. Soft fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit and sweet spice. Over 3 million cases produced which may cause some variation among bottles, but the one I tasted was great! — 8 days ago
