Can Feliu

Seleccion Privada Bullfish Red Blend

Vintage 2014 | I was ignorant that wine of this quality is made on the isle of Mallorca. Only 1.000 bottles. Very serious glass made of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Syrah ánd Merlot. 12 to 15 months in new barrels. And 15 months bottle aging. Expressive smell with cassis fruit, some impressions of old wood and spicyness. 2014 can be aged further, it is quite young now. Nice present of Miriam, thank you! | paired with deer meatballs. — 13 days ago

Prensal Blanc Chardonnay 2019

Drank on the Mallorca VIP wine tour 24th September 2020. Really fruity peach, banana, pear...almost tropical. Had it again at Lila's restaurant for dinner came back with 2 bottles from Mallorca and tastes just as delicious at home. Hand picked, low sulphites. — 13 days ago

Bodegas Los Bermejos

Lanzarote Malvasia Volcánica Seco 2018

Bold minerality and high acidity but just the right balance, quite complex. Color is very pale yellow, almost a pale green, with Lemon and wet stone on the nose, a long, crisp lingering taste of lemon, honeydew, salty brine and long finish with notes of pepper and subtly funky cheese. — 3 hours ago

Mantonegro 2017

Cherries and dusty strawberries in the nose. Light, juicy, a little chalky on the palate. Great with sausage heros on night one and roasted chicken thighs on night two. — a month ago

Two Vintners

Boushey Vineyard Grenache Blanc 2018

Newish vintage, 600 cases produced. 94/6 blend of Grenache Blanc and Roussanne from three vineyards: Boushey (81% GB), Weather Eye (13% GB), Olsen (6% R). Pale yellow white, excellent clarity. Floral, vanilla and mild aldehydic barnyard aromas. Guava, lactic flavors, tropical fruit finish (banana then coconut? But this ain’t no Piña colada). Lingering cherry and heavy (skin and seed) tannic aftertaste . This is either serious experimental winemaking, or ultra craft-focused ‘blanc de noir’, or is this just their iteration of a pale “orange” wine? Massive tannins for a “white” wine. Not a wine for the faint of heart. Dry, just enough acidity, fruity but still pondering this one... The trop fruit flavors backed off, with cherry and other red fruit and Grenache character flavors emerging after 30-60 minutes. Tannins also softened somewhat, with patience — 13 days ago

Two Vintners

Stone Tree Vineyard Zinfandel 2016

Tasting a more recent vintage, 460 cases produced, 16.7% alc/vol (seriously?!) So how does it compare with previous vintages? Purple red, highly extracted pigment. Wood in nose, wood, black cherry and black currant in mouth initially. Letting it breathe... Mint and blackberry flavors emerge after 30 minutes, and there’s got to be some RS in this. Well made, balanced, surprisingly not hot or alcoholic (which explains the sweet fruitiness), slightly syrupy in mouthfeel. A really nice wine. Reminds me why, growing up, Zin was always my favorite. Moderate chewy tannins emerge after 60 minutes, but acceptably so; they later dissipate. Fresh fig and tar emerge after that, greatness! Makes me wonder if, with global warming, the future of Zinfandel is here in the Pacific Northwest — 6 days ago
