Lustro Catarratto 2019

This was a pretty fun wine. Super aromatic and pleasing. What I want on a hot day. — 7 days ago

Vigna del Masso Catarratto 2018

Part 1 of a Columbia county weekend w/friends: a surprisingly rs leaning Sicilian white- accent on the white flowers & fruit, lower on acid. Never tasted this varietal. Rather a broad mouthfeel that went well w local charcuterie, cheese, & jaw dropping tomato salad w garden basil. This vintner makes also a spry Nero D’Avola. — a day ago

Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Frappato Nero d'Avola 2017

I love these wines that are most definitely not playing to the masses. Medium garnet with a wide brim. The nose is highly attractive fresh out of the gate. A ridiculous amount of fruit here with blackberries, black cherries, and strawberries. Eucalyptus and smoke. Herbs and spice. Beautiful earth and foresty goodness with the suggestion of funk. Terrific aromas.

COS uses clay amphorae for storage and biodynamic viticulture to produce wines as naturally as possible. 60% Nero d’Avola, 40% Frappato di Vittoria. This is all about the terroir, it’s a glorious wine that truly speaks of a place and is driven by that. The acid is nice and vibrant and the tannins round. Plenty more fruit to be found on the palate with red and black fruits. More dusty earth, leather, and stones. A long finish that leaves you wanting more. And my friends, you do want more.

Vino Rosso Nero d'Avola Blend 2019

This blend of Nero d’Avola, Frappato (locally called Nerocapitano), and Grenache is a Sicilian beauty! 💕 🇮🇹

It was lovingly nurtured and cultivated by hand and in a manner paying respect to the land from which it came, with minimal intervention, by husband and wife team Filippo and Nancy Rizzo. 🍇 🍷👌

Lamoresca, Rosso, Sicily, Vintage 2019, ABV 13.5%. @lamorescavini

👁 It’s a medium purple hue.

👃 On the nose it has a medium(+) intensity of youthful, bright, and yet savory aromas that include ripe raspberry, plum, black cherry, rhubarb, violet, clove, nutmeg, peppercorn, licorice, leather, tobacco, wet earth, and game.

👄 On the palate this wine is dry. It has medium acidity, a medium(+) body, medium alcohol, medium tannins, and medium intensity of flavors consistent with the nose. The finish lingers. 👏👏👏

Cheers to this lovely, highly delicious wine 🍷

Judging solely by the amount of jewelry of the owner, I can guarantee an authentic Sicilian recommendation of this wine. — 4 days ago

Fanino Catarratto e Pignatello Rosé

gorgeous. strawberry skin, apple blossom, condiment, peach melba, white fruit, ruby water, melted watermelon icees, honeysuckle, and a baby’s breath weight……has the beguiling appearance of ancient vintage port that has tipped beyond maturity…..a morris louis brick red bleed that is somehow saturated and diluted at the same time. phenomenal. — a month ago

Suber Nero d'Avola Blend 2017

Alder Yarrow

I probably drink too many Etna wines, so for a change here’s a Sicilian wine that is NOT from the volcano. It’s from the center of the island, near the city of Caltagirone, and it’s an unusual blend of two expected grapes (Nero d’Avola and Frappato) and one fairly unexpected one (Alicante Bouschet). Grown in dense vineyards planted with head-trained bush vines at about 1000 feet above sea level, this wine has a deep garnet color and a stony core surrounded by blackberry, licorice, and black cherry fruit. At once ripe and chiseled with acidity, this is a perfect expression of Sicily in many ways. It bears the i Vigneri stamp of consultant Salvo Foti, a good sign if there ever was one on Sicilian bottles. — 17 days ago

Passorosso Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese 2017

@Delectable Wine - This is the Passorosso Etna Rosso DOC, not the Terre Siciliane.

Nose is complex, with a tiny bit of barnyard, loads of smoky rock minerality, and rich cherry fruit. Chiseled in the mouth, with equal parts cherry fruit and intense stoniness, bone dry, with very good acidity. Tenaciously clings to the palate as some soft but vigorous tannins show up in the finish. Really fine.
