Such a baby, but came out to play after an hour in glass. Thick rug of tannins, intense, meaty quality reminding me of Morgon with some nutty and tobacco finishing aromas. Tart yet luxurious, speaks of true beauty to come in the next 5 years! — a month ago

So good. Black fruits, cherries, beets, and dirt with a vibrant acidity brought on with a slight chill. Just the slightest grip made it excellent with some coq au vin (that was also cooked in the wine). Fresh, fun, fruity. A fave. — 4 months ago

Terroir de Milly Petit Chablis Chardonnay 2019

Nose has white florals, moist ocean sand, green apple peel and lemon zest.

Palate has tart apple, warm lemon, light saline solution, green hay and moist sand/clay pottery.

Medium body, mineral drive is excellent and runs through the complete finish. I would suggest this vineyard site has a good mix of clay soils which appear to soften the palate slightly, quite enjoyable. Decanted 60m.

Paired with grilled steelhead trout, delicious.

Vaillons Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2010

I’ve had this bottle sitting in my cellar pretty much since I got back from Riyadh, nearly 7 years ago. I’m not really sure why I held onto it as long as I did but whatever. It’s open now. In the glass, the wine pours a brilliant, deep golden color. A fully mature wine at this point with a whole host of secondary and tertiary characteristics on the nose: toasted bread, apricot marmalade, feta cheese, nuts, Vanilla Tootsie Roll (the blue wrapper), sour dough, desiccated tropical fruit, warm asphalt, and alfalfa. A truly strange combination but it’s all there, whether you want it to be or not. On the palate, dried apricot, flan, and cashews. Medium acid. The finish is long. At this later stage of its life, the 2010 Jean & Sebastien Dauvissat “Vaillons” is not a wine for everyone as there will no doubt be folks who’s palate will not agree with the oxidative character of the wine. That being said, I found it rather charming. Drink now. — 20 days ago

Nose has dried seashells, lemon peel, white pepper and sliced lemon.

Palate has salted lemon wedge, dehydrated green apple and wet, crushed seashells.

Medium body, mineral drive is excellent and runs through the complete finish. I would suggest this vineyard site has a majority of calcareous soils. Decanted 60m.

Paired with grilled steelhead trout, delicious.

Les Beugnons Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2018

Nose has warm lemon, oyster shells, lightly oxidized pear slice, Atlantic ocean breeze, cold butter and dry limestone.

Palate has freshly juiced lemon mixed into your water glass, lemon pith, white flowers, wet limestone chips, salted lemon slice, mineral water and baked green apple.

Great acidity, medium finish, great texture, still so young, will concentrate. Drink 2026-30+.

Decanted 6H.
