Popped and poured the 2021 Grenache “Santa Clara County” pours a brilliant ruby color with a transparent core and a slightly watery rim. Medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with fresh, crunchy red fruits: raspberries, strawberries, Bing cherry, red flowers, cola nut, and soft baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and loaded with minerals. So fresh. So pure. Drink now and over the next 10+ years — 21 days ago
Popped and poured. The 2021 Carignane “Lodi” pours a deep ruby with a purple tinge. Medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing, with super fresh red and dark brambles, dark cherries, licorice, and some soft baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+(?) tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and continues the trend freshness with some really nice gravelly minerals. Drink now with patience and enjoy over the next 10-15 years. — a month ago
Popped and poured; no formal notes. A waxy texture with stone fruits, pear, lemon, limes, and white flowers. Good acid for food. Enjoyed this bottle with Thanksgiving dinner and it was a great pairing with all of the typical Thanksgiving fare. This is drinking really well right now and should for several years to come.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2021 "Amador County" pours a slightly hazy, pale straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose the wine is developing with notes of lemons, chamomile, lanolin, lime blossom, and ferrous minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium++ acid. Confirming the notes on the nose. The finish is long and loaded with minerals. Balanced and ever so fresh. This was a killer accompaniment with our Friendsgiving lunch in the office and worked well with turkey. Drinking now through 2031. Only two 500L puncheons produced. — 16 days ago
Popped and poured, consumed over two days. Consistent throughout. The 2021 Mataro, San Benito County pours a deep ruby color moving toward magenta rim and a near opaque core. Medium viscosity with very light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine explodes with fresh, perfectly ripe bramble fruits: black berries and raspberries, purple flowers, black pepper, crushed rocky earth with limestone minerals and subtle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. The tannins are almost silky…but sneaky. Confirming the notes from the nose and the raspberries are even more obvious right now. The finish is long. This is an awesome Mataro that’s drinking really well right now and I anticipate a bright future too. Drink now through 3036. — a month ago
Popped and poured; consumed over several hours. The 2021 “Contra Costa County” pours a deep ruby with a nearly opaque core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of brambles, strawberries, blueberries, dusty books, purple flowers, crushed gravel and the softest of baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, tart and grippy. Having some experience pairing Sandlands RTW’s with various meals, I can state with some confidence that the Lodi versions are better designed for lighter fare while the Contra Costa County versions are designed for heartier meals. Drink now with patience and through 2033. — 15 days ago
Purple red, medium pigment extraction. Fresh grape flavors initially, like eating table grapes. After ten minutes, red fruit aromas and black currant and cherry flavors, well balanced, slightly bitter seed tannins on finish. Clean, medium bodied red wine, fresh and fruity. — 14 hours ago
2015 drunk in late 2023. Definitely showing its age. — 4 days ago

Popped and poured; no formal notes. While the previous WTW was styled more as a Mediterranean white blend, this resembles more of a Bordeaux Blanc. This is showing a lot of bright tropical fruit: ripe mango, star fruit, lemon, grapefruit and a light touch of honey. This worked well with cheesy potato soup. Drinking well now and should do so through 2030.
