Tastes like California. Fruity, not heavy, balanced.

Decant! After 30 minutes, tannins soften to reveal layers of subtle flavors: floral and blackberry dominate with some barrel notes. After 60 minutes, some cola and plum flavor emerges. Purple, moderate pigment extraction, very good clarity. A very fresh grapey pour. — 13 days ago

Consistently good vintage after vintage. — 10 days ago
Lavender, blackberry and a little funk in nose in initial pour. Dense ruby red. Light body, slight skin astringency finish. Needs some time to open. Fairly tart. Raspberry flavor emerges first, then cherry. 24 hours later, fresh table grape character and seed tannins predominate. This is a solid light tasting table red with plenty of tannins for aging. I do find I miss the Zinfandel portion from earlier vintages but get more bottles of these and the style will grow on you — 2 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over three days and brought the business all three days. The 2021 Syrah SLH pours a deep ruby/purple with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, soaring black and blue fruits (can smell from 4’ away!): blackberries and blueberries, lavender pastilles, black olive brine, lardons, a touch of black pepper and rounded out by some warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and flush with tart black and blue fruits. Fresh and full of character, this Sandlands Syrah will enjoy a long life. Really fresh, vibrant and enjoyable now but, to my palate, I think this will be even more enjoyable after 2026 and drink well through 2036. #gbr #punchedourtickettotampa — 4 months ago

A blend in three equal parts of Cinsault from the Bechthold Vineyard (1886), Carignane from Spenker Ranch (1900) and Zinfandel from Kirschenmann Vineyard (1915).
Popped and poured; consumed over three days. Consistent throughout but probably showed best on day three. The 2022 Lodi pours, a deep ruby color with a transparent core and a slightly watery rim. Medium viscosity, with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine youthful and expressive with notes of black bramble fruit, blueberries, soft red flowers, red rope licorice, and rocky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry; medium tannins and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is lengthy and full of minerals and wow, it is juicy. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Tegan is redefining Lodi. These wines show so much character and yet have all the Lodi DNA. Drink now and through 2032. 40 barrels produced. — 4 days ago
