Flash decant this time as usually I open up the “Reynaud wines” a few hours in advance. We started drinking slowly but right away the aromas were very expressive and they opened up slowly to reveal multiple layers of red fruit, spices. I can discern some Grenache to my Burgundian palate but brely, the wine is powerful but approchable at this toung stage, nice freshness and great texture of tannins with an impressive length for a “vin de pays”. 90-91
90-91 — 5 hours ago
Stunning vintage for Chave showing great purity, complexity that is polished & silky with dark cherry, raspberry, smoked meats, licorice, graphite, finishing with a nose of menthol, pepper, tobacco leaf & violet. Great length & balance with the structure that will drink well for many years. — 8 days ago
Brown reddish with fine sediment. Muted compact nose initially, evolving into forest floor, mushrooms, blood/iron and herbs. On the palate still a solid core of purple/blue fruit, cacao, tea leaves and drying tannins. Mouth coating, long finish. This can certainly age for many years to come. Beginning of drinking window. Next bottle in a couple of years.
Edit day two: the herbal components really shine now, combined with the softening of the tannins through aeration this magical balance comes into play. Understanding why this got 100RP. Hold for more greatness ☀️ — 2 days ago
Really a very nice Syrah. Probably 1-2 years past its perfect drinking window but still very nice tonight with a minimal decant. Perfect pairing with old-school steak diane. Lots of olive, some dark fruit, some earth, nice lifting acid, quite well balanced, long finish. — 7 days ago
Ruby in color with a wide red rim.
Nose of blueberries, plums, light wood, spices, coffee, nail polish remover, tobacco, earth, light wet leaves, herbs and peppercorn.
Medium plus in body and elegant, with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, light wood, earth, vinaigrette, tobacco, bitter herbs, spices, vegetables, dark coffee and black pepper.
Spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very tasty and nicely aged Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Elegant and smooth.
Good by itself or with food and a little stinky on the nose. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show the complexity.
Thank you Scott for sharing.
Great all by itself. Yummy and interesting.
This unique wine was held in oak barrels until 2010, at which point it was blended. Bottled only in 2019.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

I’m between a 92-93 here. This was by no means shut down but it was surprisingly tannic and a bit clenched. Poured next to a 2016 Fisher Syrah, this was significantly less pepper driven yet substantially more nimble and vibrant. 100% Grenache and 40% whole cluster (which is definitely evident). Plenty of ripe red fruit up front on the nose with underripe and crunchy black fruits, potpourri, garrigue, and herbal stemminess. Nervy acidity on the palate and while a touch thin on the mid palate, the finish here is quite beefed up with violet, cranberry and black currant wrapped tannins. It’s almost juicy, yet an herbal flair keeps it balanced. Enjoyed at pop and pour, I’d decant at least an hour if opening now. — 4 days ago
Nez de mures, prunes, poivre. Une bouche de belle texture et belle densité, c'est fin, frais, des tannins assez assouplis, soyeux, très long, pur délice. 93+
Nose of dark currant, pepper, plum. The palate is of such a great density and texture as well s being fresh with silky tannins, very long finish, gorgeous. — 4 days ago
Massive blackberry on the nose with stunning granitic details. Wow. This is very very high class. Some black olive as well that is very well defined. What a palate. Density married with finesse and insanely explosive fruit. Wow that’s a great wine. Brilliant purity and density. So elegant. How can something this big be so elegant? Gorgeous late breaking sweet and granitic tannins. A monumental wine. Unreal finish. This slaps! Structure starts to kick in but that is offset but incredible juiciness. This is an ager but fun to take a peek. — 13 days ago
Really a beautiful and captivating Syrah apparently from right across from Cote-Rotie. Decanted 5+ hours and I recommend that at this stage. So much dark fruit - cherry, some plum - just delicious. Wonderful mouthfeel and a nice long finish with excellent acid. Has a certain seamlessness to it that makes it easy to keep drinking. Great with skirt steaks on the grill. — 12 days ago
