Deep Ruby color, rich fruit aromas with earthy tones. On the palate raspberry and cherry flavors with sweet spice, tobacco and cacao notes, rich tangy and juicy. Soft full tannins, long finish ending with oak and earthy herb ending. Just starting to drink now, will cellar for a decade. Tasting Sample! — 15 days ago
Remarkably youthful despite its age. Robust deep color without browning at the edge.Tastes like it should be good for another 10 or more years — a day ago
A core of dense deep dark fruits, quintessential McLaren Val chocolate, coffee, subtle herbs and spice. Ripe and sweet, with tannin of amazing length and silky yet muscular grip. Sweet as in the very-best-of, not overdone, everything is beautifully balanced and turns to a mild savoury finish. — 18 days ago
Very interesting but it fades fast, maybe because of the age of the vintage. Cantaloupe and honeydew on the nose. Passion fruit, dragon fruit, honeysuckle and a lemon finish. — 2 days ago
v14. Bold, decant. Smoked meat and oregano nose. Raspberry and cherry fruit. Dry, astringent, earthy , mocha finish. Balanced, enjoyable. — 4 days ago
2020 vintage. MV Shiraz. MV stands for both Mc Laren Vale and Multiple Vineyards, as this is a 100% Shiraz blend from 4 of the 6 biodynamically farmed Paxton estates. All parcels were vinified seperately, aged in French oak and blended prior to bottling. Intense perfume of blackberries and subtle spices with a hint of eucalyptus. Fresh, energetic and balanced with very good spicy length. Abv. 14%. — 10 days ago
A bit funky at the start, almost a natty thing on the nose. Pure raspberry jam, well balanced and elegant. Fun to try and it’s nice to know this family is now the steward of this great vineyard. — 3 days ago
Bready in its breadth and then you take a breath and get the apricot and maybe some mango peel.
Whoosh. After understanding my palate, the homies at Frankly have listened and pointed me to a wonderful bottle. What an adventure. I feel seen.
Waxy, slightly effervescent. Refreshing. I’ll say it again. Refreshing as can be. Well worth the wait after a long run in the heat. Edging on orange, but stopping short of zesty and taking a detour to somewhere along Chenin’s spectrum. Minerality.
Really love this idiosyncratic blend. Something new.
