The 2001 Opus One is a masterful blend that truly embodies the elegance and structure of Napa Valley wines. The deep ruby color is immediately captivating, and the nose opens with rich aromas of black currant, dark cherries, and subtle hints of tobacco and cedar. On the palate, it delivers an impeccably balanced experience, with layers of ripe blackberry, plum, and a touch of dark chocolate, all interwoven with earthy undertones and a refined minerality. — 2 days ago
Quite deep ruby , pretty opaque . Quite deeply fruited and slightly spicy oak , dark blackberry , blackcurrant , with a grafite , wet slate touch. Quite a bit of grip on the palate with blackberry , spicy blackcurrant , dark cherry . More mineral and dense on the palate , quite good acidity, touch of sweet oak. Decent length with no warmth or sweetness from the alcohol. Quite serious , slightly austere perhaps but balanced and actually quite refreshing. Drink from now over the next 5-10 years . This would have been a recent release , purchased from the vineyard earlier this year. — 18 days ago

1996 vintage. Tasted most recently on 8.2.24 (9.6) and that bottle was slightly better. Tasted out of magnum in 2023 and that rated as highly as the previous mention (9.6). This had a really nice fill, good cork and was decanted (throwing pretty big sed). Tasted after an hour. Gorgeous and with plenty of power but just barely dialed down from 11 with this bottle. Has this exalted winery made a better bottle of red or white wine in their entire existence? Not in my experiences. 9.29.24. — 5 days ago
