Texas High Plains Grenache 2020

The 2020 Pedernales Texas High Plains Grenache carries alcohol at a lofty 15.3% abv, but the color is only medium-dark and the mouthfeel is surprisingly light. The nose brings strawberry, raspberry and blackberry aromas, while the palate is rich in red fruit. The tannins are firm, yet the wine has a silky feel in the mouth. Not exactly what I was expecting, but delightful nonetheless. — 2 years ago

Six Generations Texas Red Blend 2019

ESF
9.3

Drink locally: this is a field blend with all sorts of French varieties thrown in there: it boasts black & red fruit on the nose, very generous, with spice, herb and bramble accents. Delightful nose led to delicious palate full of fruit w/mineral & cassis flourishes. At times Bordeaux like, leather, earth, bit musty, but always engaging. Beautiful harmony & balance w/impressive finish. Not meant for long haul, but peaking now with short term cellaring capability. QPR is *** — 2 months ago

Texas Viognier 2022

Pale gold in color; tangerines, honeysuckle, and peach on the nose; medium minus acidity; tastes like under ripe mangos, lime zest, and saline with a long finish. Leo likes it. Nellie and I love it! — 2 months ago

Kyla Kuhlken Vineyard Tempranillo Rosé 2019

This wine shows a beautiful salmon orange color, along with a nose of strawberries, an herbal quality and tangerine peel. The palate lays out red cherry flavors laced with citrus minerality and a razor-sharp acidity which really refreshes. It is bold and even brawny, in a way - unusual for a sparkling rosé but entirely welcome. — 2 years ago

Texas Family Reserve Red Blend 2016

Great Texas wine... no that’s not a misprint. The vineyards on Hwy 290 near Fredericksburg are the the new “Napa Valley” of Texas. Just stay away from Texas cabs. Not so good. This bottle is a Tempranillo.. much better suited for Texas climate. — 6 years ago
