Viña Zorzal

Tempranillo Navarra Pequenas Puertas La Moribunda 2021

Brett intensity! Blows off after 10mins in the glass and pure temp chassis and structure remains. The evolution is thrilling. 660 bottles a year, 35 year old vines, and its a collaboration. Outstanding. — a day ago

Bodegas Frontonio

The Garage Wine Garnatxa Blanca Macabeo 2019

Years ago in a blind tasting of Spanish white wines a wine friend surprised us all. The quality of the wines was stunning at the most of us praised the wines and labelled them as Montrachet here, Montrachet there.

It was a humble experience and we all learned that day some important lessons. This wine is another great example of Vino Blanco and it delivers overall.

👃The nose delivers great purity and finesse, it’s a party in the nose of wild flowers and soft citrus tones. It’s a feast to smell this kind of nose.

👄In the mouth the wine is pure and powerful in the same time, it’s a wine that has great intensity but is waving very light through my mouth, it’s like pure silk.

💰💰This is a no brainer for me and with around €50,00 it’s not cheap but considering the crazy prices in the white Burgundy wine world it’s cheap.

🕰This is great drinking now but can and will develop in bottle in the upcoming years.

Mid body and mid acidity. Fruity with a balanced earthy backbone. Interesting variety with special character. Nice surprise. — 9 days ago

La Peli Navarra Garnacha 2018

Rosado, savoury, layered, this is a rosé benchmark. I will refer anyone and everyone to this bottle. Especially anyone tired of clear glass, wankily-named perfume branded Provencale efforts. — a day ago

Vino de pago de Arínzano Red Blend 2016

Holy Moly - was in a hurry to pick up a bottle at the beach and scored this for $20 and it was absolutely stunning: inky color, completely opaque w/outstanding complexity on nose: plums & cassis, smoke, dried herbs, scorched Earth, sweet spice like cinnamon, roasted coffee mingled w/mocha, pipe tobacco and so on. Just kept evolving. Thought this was all Tempranillo based on DO - although I’ve had some nice Garnacha from this region, but I swore there were Bordeaux varietals. After some research determined there is CS & M. Seamless, expansive, well-done + totally over delivers QPR. I’m going back to buy them out of stock. — 21 days ago

Bodega Vinificate

Amorro Blanco

Hate to quibble, but the lower ratings on this make no sense to me. This is beautiful, like a lightly sherried Chablis, and the best Palomino I’ve had. — 7 days ago

Zerberos El Altar El Barraco Garnacha 2017

Light bodied, good fruit, not spicy like it’s French counterpoint but drinks well and is food friendly — 7 days ago

Bodegas y Viñedos Artazu

Santa Cruz de Artazu Garnacha 2016

This is the Artazu Pasos de San Martin Navarra, a varietal Garnacha. A bit sleepy before it gets air, it gradually Benjamin Buttons and develops a terrifically pure nose of kirsch and raspberry ooze, along with crushed rock dust and sandalwood. In the mouth it’s got intense fruit, but is laser-focused and has excellent acids. Zero flab.
Just enough tannin to package it all. Really nice rendition of Grenache.

Cote Basque

Rosé Blend 2020

Not sure of the varietal(s) in this Spanish Rose’. (Txakoli?) Very little information about this wine on the label of the bottle. Light pink color. Strawberry bubble gum on the nose and pallet. Extremely Fruit forward. Touch of mineral. Hints of RS and CO2. Quite refreshing. — 14 days ago

Wild stuff but excellent. Nose smells a bit naturally. Lemon oil, but that natural skin contact thing. But very clean. Palate is grippy and concentrated. Sappy and pure. Great balance and purity. It’s an excellent example of what a natural wine should be but rarely is. Super clean and long. Legit structure. Complex and staggering levels of minerality. This can and will age. Long echoing finish. Really stellar. Wish more natty wine tasted like this. Then again Leclapart is a genius. — 10 days ago
