Aromatic notes of rose and violet. Great depth of delicious flavour on the medium bodied palate. Red fruits - savoury and rich. See previous note for the 2014 - always excellent but 8 years of cellaring has enhanced this wine. To have won the Jimmy Watson Trophy for the Best One Year Old Dry Red at Royal Melbourne and still starring now at 8 years of age shows this is a wine for all seasons and all years. Should be a regular purchase. A Winner. — 2 days ago
Popped and poured; no formal notes. Best with air, this is still a baby. Blueberry pie, purple flowers, rotundone, some black pepper, cocoa, coffee and bacon fat. Super dry with stiff tannin still. Lovely acid. Finish is long…like whoa. Drink now with patience or before 2035, no cap. — 3 days ago
A cooler expression of cabernet is the usual Margaret River way and this shows all of the minty capsicum it can in balance with currants and red cherry fruit. Barely a trace of oak. Med+ tannin, med/med+ acids add a nice juicy mouthwatering med+ finish. — 10 days ago
Excellent, would buy again — 17 days ago
On the nose there is black pepper and roast meat. Medium weight and savoury. Oak has been integrated. As I’ve said in previous notes if you’re going to grow Shiraz in the Margaret River it needs to be in the south near the town of Margaret River where this is from. Maybe Margaret River can do decent Shiraz. Better known for its excellent Cabernet and Chardonnay. — a month ago
See 2 previous notes on Delectable. Much the same now. Very plummy on nose and palate. Meaty notes on the nose. Plum and raspberry on the palate. An excellent blend for Penfolds from their vast resources. Amazing the influence of the Mourvèdre for only being 11%. Shiraz is 89%. Paid $30 per bottle for this in 2016. Cheap for a Penfolds red. — 7 days ago

The first of 4 bottles from my cellar. The nose has blackberry, violets and dried herbs. The palate has that trademark Margaret River herbaceousness but in this warmer vintage more cassis, fine persistent tannins which go on forever - almost silky. Just a beautiful rendition of Margaret River Cabernet with a very long life in front of it - say 20 years. Cape Mentelle one of the early vineyards and down in the south near the town. — 14 days ago
