Grange South Australia Shiraz 2019

My husband and I had a tasting of the 2019 Grange @BenEan in the Hunter Valley, NSW. It was beautiful on the nose, a very oaky flavour on the palate which is something I like. Very tempted to grab a bottle to store for 20 years. — 16 days ago

Astralis Syrah 2007

This was a big boy. Sweat nose and full body, yet elegant. Tannin structure still there and pleasant on the palate. Black fruits with a pepper kick. Lingering finish makes you want more. — a month ago

Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 1998

Deep and dense. This wine even at 26 years old needed a lot of time. Decanted and enjoyed over 5 hours. It truly hit its stride after hour 4. Spicy, rich dark fruit and lots of grip. — 19 days ago

Polish Hill Clare Valley Riesling 2023

Infanticide. This changed a lot in the glass. A lot going on here, but we didn’t do it justice by drinking it so young. Green apple, coconut, lychee. — 3 days ago

Grange Hermitage Bin 95 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Pretty opaque, violet rim . Deep spice filled nose , blackberry , blackcurrant , dark cherry , floral hints . Lovely and expansive on the palate , dark blackberry and dark cherry , chocolate richness , but dry extract with marked but fine tannin and balanced acidity . Very long and filling . Nutmeg , and a meaty character after a while, with an oyster shell , mineral finish . This actually shows quite well , it’s enormous potential is clear , with time in the glass it does change quite a lot and invites you back for another try. For such a full bodied , full blooded wine it has so much completeness and harmony , there is no excess sweetness and the alcohol is balanced and seemlessly integrated . I am glad a tried it now , though I would imagine it’s best days to be 25-40 years in the future . @ Ben Ean , Hunter Valley . — a month ago

The Steading Barossa Valley Grenache Blend 2021

A Barossa GSM. Took a while to balance out, but with some air the wine showed its elegance. I also learned that Mataro is the Spanish/Aussie name for mouvedre. 😎 🇦🇺 Bright Grenache in the foreground with a peppery undertone. Smooth and silky. Mellow tannins. — 8 days ago

Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz 2016

Dark purple/black color. Intense aromas of blueberry, vanilla, smokey bacon fat and caramel. The bold palate is quite complex. Flavors of blue/black berry fruit, dark chocolate, maple, ripe plums, black pepper and coffee. Rich and plush. Mouth coating texture. Long finish and chewy tannins. Ultra full bodied and quite expressive. Works especially well with grilled meat. — a month ago
