Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

L'Hermitage Blanc Marsanne Roussanne 2014

From the hermit on the hill himself; this is a luscious, rich, full, pungent even, white wine. Takes hours and hours to stabilize into a highly perfumed nose full of white flowers, some jasmine, and white mushroom. The pallet is unorthodox for any white wine standards: umami, brioche, over ripe stone fruit, and root vegetable notes: jicama, Jerusalem artichoke. Full bodied, high alcohol, medium acidity, high flavor intensity and a long finish. Incredible wine. — 16 hours ago

Nice…we ate this with a nice marbley New York strip, and mashed potatoes with lemon zest. The wine went very nicely and cleansed the palette and then brought us back to wanting to take the next sip. A very nice burgundy, not dry but not to jammy. Good fruit (cherry), slight acid, good finish. I would like it rounder, but truly just right! — 14 days ago

NOTE TO DELECTABLE EXPERT - THIS IS THE WHITE, not red. 2022/2/20. A pretty sweet deal on mature (but not overly mature) Hermitage blanc - big, savory, burnished, broad. — 18 days ago

2001 vintage. Deglet Noor dates, wet leather and überripe blackberries rollicking and frolicking throughout the experience. Small spice component as well. Medium-heavy body…still. Courtesy of @Bill Bender — 9 hours ago

This is a deep ruby wine.

It offers robust notes of leather, anise, black cherry, pipe tobacco, peppercorn, nutmeg, baking spice, and earthiness; it has smooth, well-integrated, and velvety tannins.

100% Syrah 13.5% ABV.

Pleasure and precision in a light, refreshing frame. Kumquat, pawpaw, a hint of butterscotch hard candy. Vibrant succession of mineral, tart fruit, and dairy flavors. Creamy, lithe and brilliant with a lingering finish. Stellar winemaking. — 10 hours ago

This was WOTN. Wow. Briefly decanted. Really opened up nicely after some time in the glass. A little funk that blew off, and then amazing. — 23 days ago
