Dark ruby color. Very funky and somewhat hot right out of the bottle. Eventually, aromas and flavors of jammy black cherry/berry/currant did emerge with additional hints of coffee and toasted oak. Acidity was pretty bright, great on the mid-palate, but the finish was very short. Medium-plus body and fairly rich. Much brighter and better on the second day.
