Cascina Cottionano Bramaterra Nebbiolo Blend 2018

Surprisingly closed & in-aromatic. 3 different glasses and only some shy dusty cherry comes across.
Balanced & juicy on the palate, with racy cherry acidity and good depth. Good tannic presence, nice depth,
This is a very nice wine, yet - overall - I expected more

Vino Rosso 'Vispavola' Vespolina 2019

On the btl, they say it’s the bees knees.
Well, Vespolina it tis’ and I may agree.
N: Liquorice, Rosemary, tar, that nose might lead you to think you’ve got a heavyweight. But no.
P: Big black cherries and that distinctly Italian acid lift. Slightly tannic, volcanic earth. Fun stuff at 13°

Cascina Cottionano Coste della Sesia Rosso Nebbiolo Blend 2020

Quite a complex nose after the initial (strong) reduction blows away - red berry compote, damson plum, some rose hip, a bit of nutmeg, some sweet incense, a bit of tar. But there’s also an incredibly uplifting fresh note - mint, Mandarine peel.
Richness, finesse, sappy freshness.
On the palate this is quite light with finely polished, dusty tannins, fresh red berry acidity and overall great purity. Plus a bit of rusty, bloody minerality in the background and a cranberry infused savoury finish.
Balanced and with good length and incredibly food friendly! A really nice one from Alto Piemonte.

Colli Tortonesi Timorasso 2018

Scents of lemon custard pie when it was first poured and that shifted to sea water and then to more of a green dulse or Kombu smell after just a few minutes in the glass!
I love the taste of this Piedmont white. Soft on the palette with a wonderful maturity that includes light tannins and a freshly acidic after taste- what balance! Would love to try a few bottles of this every year to see what it has to offer with even more age.

Very delicious. Mid weight, beeswax and mineral, bright acid. Surprising Timorasso. High quality winemaking contributing to a complex expression. — 2 years ago

Lovely aromatics. More viscosity then I’m used to and yet the acidity keeps it in check. Great qpr. — a month ago

Cascina Cottignano Bramaterra Nebbiolo 2015

Some pine. Floral. Lovely.

Palate is a bit tannic. Lovely cherry fruit. Juicy. As it opens a hint of balsamic. Not a good sign.

As it airs tanins become more pronounced. Which is odd. Still a fun drink.

This may be mildly corked. God hates us all. My guess in 5 years will be very good. Or not.

Very good.
