Very nice extremely drinkable red. Caught my eye as last time we had a wine from Les Poyeux was a Clos Rougeard at Commander’s Palace in New Orleans. This was at Balthazar. Definitely on the more glou glou side of things - but quite enjoyable. And a nice pairing with a frisée lardon, halibut, and a steak au poivre. — a year ago
Super young and took a while to open up. Shy nose of blue flowers, black pepper, baking spices, black currant. More expressive mid palate if a little too tannic. Dark cherries, blackberries, pepper. Cuts a little short in the finish but an amazing effort that will clearly benefit from aging. Not quite a Close rougeard but good stuff. — 3 years ago
