A little high octane for my liking but perfect structure to soak up some duck fat and plenty of pretty dark fruit — 15 days ago
This is the 2012 Late Disgorged Blanc de Noir.
Having been a long time fan of Michael Cruse and his Ultramarine wines, I was excited to try my first late disgorged offering. Michael recommended at least 6 months post disgorgement before opening…this was disgorged Nov 2020, so I was able to give this 8 months.
Compared to the regular Blanc de noir, I didn’t get that cream soda type note on the nose upon opening, but a lot of this was similar to its regular sibling. Definitely a core of oxidized Apple, with notes of Apple strudel, Bosc pear, and a Carmex note I get with a lot of zero dosage grower champagnes. On the palate it was more full bodied and rich, with a very vinous profile. Closer to high quality white wine than it was sparkler. Bubbles weren’t aggressive. Fruit was mainly Granny Smith Apple with lime stone, and sea salted grilled lemon. Not yeasty. Tasty, as expected! — 7 days ago
Dark black fruits: black cherry, blackberry, and black current — with a hint of cacao. The Mondavi family have another winner! — 22 days ago
There’s a lot to process here. Pours a burnished gold in the Glencairn. Unmistakably Medley/Wathen’s with that honeyed overture into clove giving way to German candied nuts and oranges. The high viscosity gives the effect of a weighted blanket to the palate; positively ensconcing. It’s hot but it’s 126.74 proof, so what do you expect? The finish is long and satisfying. Barrel 1; bottle 009/180. A fabulous pick from the Brown Water Enthusiasts. ✌🏽 ❤️ ✊🏽 — a month ago
Perfect rosé! Dry, nice melon and pale raspberry flavors with an acidity that zips it up. Good value!

This is a simple but very tasty, sparkling wine from France.
Showing citrus, lemons, apples, pears, light tropical fruits, honey and light minerals.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Refreshing with small bubbles.
Dry to off dry on the palate and fruit forward.
Nicely balanced and easy drinking.
Good by itself and a good Sunday sparkle.
11.5% alcohol by volume.
89 points. — a month ago
