Coming from my cellar in Italy
Antonio Pulcini the winemaker is a lovely fellow that lives in a marvellous property on the hills south of Rome.
He found when relatively young bottles made by his dad 30 years earlier still delicious and decided to reproduce them somehow.
It took him a while, but the wines have absolutely no similar examples in the area.
The wine is bright gold with straw shade
When it reaches room temperature gives its best on the nose with mandarin, grapefruit, an array of herbs and flowers. Hay, cheese, wet stones, marzipan and quite an oxidative personality.
The palate is fresh, soft and extremely long.
Probably the vines this wine was made from have been replaced too. Fascinating too say in one word. — 11 days ago
There’s something incredibly exciting about Northern Spanish white wines, and this Ribeiro with a blend of Albarino, Godello and Treixadura is no exception. It is a still wine with a medium yellow color. There are soft floral, stone fruit, and citrus scents on the nose reminiscent of white flowers, white peach, and lemon curd. The pallet is explosively clean with crisp green apple, ripe pear, and fresh peach followed by lemon zest and honey with a wet stone finish. Medium alcohol, medium plus body, and a very balanced acidic profile. Delightful wine on the pallet with good vibrancy, good texture, very round, very smooth; so easy to keep drinking, you just don't get tired of it. I’ve said this before; so cliche but so true: Northern Spanish whites are dead-on great value. Cheers. — a month ago
This is the last of a dozen bought back in 2019 as a mid week quaffer for $12 a bottle from Dan Murphy’s. Smells and tastes much better than that - could be treble the price. Some leesy funk with grapefruit on the nose. On the palate Citrus, a hint of nectarine and perfectly balanced oak. Excellent QPR from the renowned Chardonnay area - the Adelaide Hills. Will need to purchase another dozen. — 8 days ago
Ripe & fruit forward with dark cherry & blackberry and a whiff of Mediterranean herbs.
Rich yet very fresh & balanced on the palate with beautifully polished & juicy tannins and a perfect balance between the sweet fruit and sappy acidity.
This is a nice one - richer & heavier yet very drinkable at the same time.
Excellent match with grilled meat. — a month ago
Color of burgundy with a slight purple hue. Quite clear. Nose of nice dried strawberry, beautiful aldehyde, nice savory herb, oily paint, and strength of alcohol. Nose is beautiful and well refined. Taste follows the nose with addition of zest, slight sweetness, warmth of alcohol, and mellow tannins. Well balanced and tasty. Aftertaste is long and savory. Beautiful. — 10 days ago
Costco’s recent offering. Very crisp on the tongue owing to the little light bubbles. Fresh and not too fruity. Perfect for this humid GA evening. — 8 days ago
Gentle, subtle, a really nice white over all. I think this wine might just make me fall in love with white wines. — 24 days ago
