California Chardonnay

Forever Wild Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2019

Notre Vue Estate Winery Balverne Russian River Valley Forever Wild Chardonnay 2019, California

Pale lemon in color with a green/ golden hue.

Nice nose of lemons, cedar, vanilla, toast, limes, grapefruits, honeysuckle, apples, honeydew, earth, minerals, sea salt and light river rocks.

Full bodied, buttery and smooth, with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with citrus, green apples, grapefruits, bitter herbs, spices, oak, vanilla, peppercorn, wet leaves and earth.

Nice tangy finish with almonds.

This is a very enjoyable Chardonnay from Russian River Valley. Elegant, fruity and interesting.

Loved the nose here. Showing nice complexity with a great mouthfeel. Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime (20 minutes).

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with cheeses, crackers and olives.

100% Chardonnay grapes were aged for 5 months in French Oak barrels (20% new).

14.2% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay 2019

A generous soul brought this to our college reunion/ get together BBQ-never a big fan of Cali Chard flavors (guava, pineapple, etc), I was won over by its tautness, silky mouthfeel, & fruit intensity. — 6 days ago

Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

This is a phenomenal Chardonnay. Super well balanced, great fruit, absolutely lovely. My wife told me to buy three more cases. That may be my new rating scale. ;-) — 2 days ago

Arey Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

2019 vintage. Bâtard-Montrachet nose, Chablis Grand Cru finish. Thin, watery body and the mid-palate is definitely in a period of transformation but this wine is going (other) places and would love to revisit in a year. Mineral component and acidity are on point currently with that ethereal Santa Cruz Mountains terroir but expecting this wine to fatten up in the next twelve months. Fascinating. This producer is making some palate-challenging chards and pinots along with a solid red blend...all with low case production. This one is all of 130 cases and with a nice price. — 3 days ago

Wifey’a back in the office (which could also be considered an orifice) pun intended. But she need not worry about her dinner…
This chard is just ok. One dimensional, lacks complexity. Expected much better from this winery.

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2015

Just enough residual tannin to support the rich fruit forward flavors. Dry and smooth and a hint of Cabernet aroma to lead off. — 4 days ago

One of the best Aubert’s we have tasted. We were worried about longevity - no such fear required.
Good depth on the nose, begins with roasted almonds, marzipan and meyer lemons. Palate is sharp, almost edgy. White stone fruits lead the way, followed by beeswax, and caramel. I guess the caramel is a leading indicator to consume these now.
@David L, thanks so much for sharing this great producer with us ✌🏾

Looks and sounds beautiful!

You got me into Aubert as well. Can’t believe you still find a way to impress us with these wines.

Trout Gulch Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

Pale gold. Lemon, minerals, high acidity and bitterness level. Crisp, sinewy wine. Apple skin, green melon, paraffin, freshly cut green herbs. Many users say they find this Chablis-esque, and I can see that.

After a day in the fridge this is slightly richer and less restrained. Very nice wine.. 👍🏻

Heron Lake Vineyard Chardonnay 2018

Doesn’t bowl you over with concentration but Enfield is all about subtlety and balance. Green apple, pear, slightly bitter lemon finish, not a whiff of butter or vanilla or toast in sight — 6 days ago
