Château Sisqueille

Rivesaltes Vin Doux Naturel White Blend 1942

Fascinating - mulling spice, fig, prune, orange peel, and burnt rubber. On day 1 reminiscent to a 20 year tawny port, but on day 2 this is drinking almost identically to Bual Madeira with a sweet tarry finish. — 2 years ago

The Rare Wine Co. Historic Series Boston Madeira Special Reserve Bual

Brilliant value for this Madeira. All the rich and brighter notes of Malvasia without being cloying. — 3 months ago

Henriques & Henriques

Madeira Bual 1954

The 1954 Bual from Henriques & Henriques was one of the weaker ones of the night. Mahogany and fairly dark. Very floral on the nose. Dried apricots on the palate. Mid length finish. Not especially complex. Enjoyable by any standards, but fell short here. — 2 years ago

Madeira Bual

Vintage 1977 / A real treat after a long tasting. Intense and concentrated, multi-layered taste. I made no formal notes but love such Madeira. — 8 months ago

That’s a nice, young Madeira you have there ❤️

10 Years Old Madeira Bual

Burnt caramel, Demerara sugar, soy sauce. Attractive darkness. On the drier side and all the better for it. Lacking only the depth and complexity of its vintage brethren. An excellent affordable madeira. Best after a week of air. — 2 years ago

Cossart Gordon & Co.

Madeira Bual Solera 1845

The Madeira that had the lowest number on the label was the 1845 Solera from Cossart. The last top up was apparently 1953, so this really wasn't nearly as old on average as some of the others. Dark brown with copper edges. Soapy on the nose. Quite short but attractive orange peel and spices. It might not be the oldest of the bunch, but it is rather past it. — 2 years ago
