Opened a few hours prior to service and enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 1996 Asili, Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with lovely notes of Morello cherry, red flowers, some tar, leather, a touch of truffle, dry gravelly earth and a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. A great pairing with controfiletto di wagyu. Plenty of life left in this. Drink now through 2041. — 5 days ago
Tangy dark fruit. Great purity. On the palate a tart powerful but clean middle. Sour cherry, violets, iron, tang. Great stuff — 3 months ago
Dec 2025: PnP ready, nice nose, fine tannins, medium body and good strength, won big over Roagna Langhe of the same vintage, side by side — 24 days ago

Opened a few hours prior to service and enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 1999 Le Rocche del Falletto pours a deep garnet color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of black cherry, raspberry, roses, tar, talcum powder, dried herbs, a touch of leather, some gravelly earth and a kiss of warm spices. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the note. The finish is long. I know it’s splitting hairs but I think I preferred this over the ‘96 Asili Riserva that we enjoyed alongside. There just seemed to be a bit more oomf. A lovely pairing with controfiletto di wagyu.
