Field blend. Mostly Mencia with about 25% various red and white varieties - Alicante Bouschet, Doña Blanca, Palomino and Godello- from a single-vineyard in Cobrana, northeast of Ponferrada. Vines are 90+ years old and rooted in clay and slate soils. Co-fermented with whole clusters in oak vats and aged for 8 months in clay amphora, under floor. Bright and juicy, lots of crunchy red fruit. Light-bodied, fresh easy to drink. Subtly saline. High acidity — 16 days ago
This 9 year old Spanish wine is very tasty, once it opens up and much better the next day.
Showing black fruits with earth, tobacco, wood, earth, light vegetables, graphite, spices, peppercorn and smoke.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with plenty of fruits. Nicely balanced with nice complexity. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 years.
Long tangy finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
Delicious once it opens up.
100% Tempranillo grapes were aged in French and American oak barrels for 24 months.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

This has a bracing cranberry tartness to stand up to its complex flavors. It stood up nicely to the vinegar and roasted flavors in our roast chicken salad. — 3 days ago
Quite dark. Dark fruit, herbal, medicinal notes. Medium to full bodied, tannins. — 16 days ago
Jammy fruits abound. F…ing good wine Mom. Milky chocolate overtones with oaky spiced finish. The Mencia grape may not have turned out to be the Grandfather of Cabernet Sauvignon but you can see why people would have thought it so. Great bottle for the price. — 12 days ago
McCarthy & Schiering, $21
Floral and dark fruit on the nose. Super complex, getting all different kinds of tasting notes with each sip. Blackberry, black cherry, wet sand, and a savory note that reminds me of herbs and olives and a touch of smokiness. The fruit is ripe but it still has a very bright acidity, maybe a touch too much for my tastes, smooth tannins and lingers on the palate for awhile - medium bodied. It may not be the best tasting wine I've ever had, but it is definitely one of the most refined and complex and was very enjoyable to drink! — 24 days ago
