Alicante Bouschet

Cartuxa

Vinho de Talha Tinto

I have never tried a wine like this.

They use the traditional (or should I say ancient?) method of winemaking, where the wine is aged in old clay pots.

It’s smoky. Leathery. Dark fruit emerges.

One of a kind.

Ridge Vineyards

Three Valleys Sonoma County Zinfandel Blend 2019

2019. My wife and daughter sent a couple photos of the World Market wine selection for me to help pick something out for grilled steaks at my brother’s… a quick scan and seeing Ridge made the choice a no-brainer. Young, but paired great! — a month ago

Bodegas Enrique Mendoza

La Tremenda Alicante Monastrell 2016

Tried it twice! I was pleasantly surprised how good this wine was. Ruby with aromas of fresh red and black fruits, spice and sweet oak, aged for 6 months in French oak. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with herb spice and toasty notes. Fine rustic tannins, long finish ending with fruit, cacao and sweet spice. Tremendous value! — 14 days ago

Hooker Creek Sonoma Valley Zinfandel Blend 2018

The 2018 hooker creek has strong notes of plum and subtle cardamom. Medium-high in tannins, it’s great to drink now or cellar for a few years. — 11 hours ago

Fundação Eugénio de Almeida (Cartuxa)

Reserva Évora Aragonez Alicante Bouschet 2015

So much going on. Oak, leather, dark fruit. Wicked finish. This will be more of a beast in a few years. — 13 days ago

Bodegas Volver

Tarima Hill Old Vines Alicante Monastrell

True old vine depth in both texture and flavour. A nice departure from Tempranillo or garnacha while retaining all the bold characteristics of Spanish old world reds. — a month ago
