Truly the star of the entire day. I legit got tears in my eyes because this Riesling was so beautiful. Bruised yellow apple, singed lemon peel, ginger, wilting jasmine, thyme, petrol, and a tiny bit of peach are woven together by juicy acidity and a lush mouthfeel. Aromatic, mineral, complex, and balanced. I got a bottle to bring home, obviously. — 4 days ago
Really interesting. Low alcohol-12.5%-quite tannic so has some legs to age, or benefits from a robust decant ( which we didn’t do). On nose plenty of wild raspberry, palate is somewhere between an old school Bordeaux & Saumur red( blend is 70% cab franc & 30% merlot), along with serious tannic structure. Serious natural winemakers too. — 14 days ago
Nose has mashed strawberry/banana and cut red delicious apple.
Palate has sweet, but dry, strawberry, banana peel, under-ripe red currant and light green herb notes.
An interesting rose that I was able to get some more information about on my visit to the BB winery last Fall. The wine is 100% DeChaunac, a more common varietal for colder climates, like Ontario. The third vintage on this wine, fruit is sourced locally from Sheldrake Point.
This wine still wins the prize for about the darkest color of any rosé in our cellar. Light ruby, like a flawless stone you can see right through. — 15 days ago
