Thank you @Jason and Jennie / amazing wine and Kirk Venge is making delicious wine - RP scored this 97 and I was just not willing to go that far but one of the best Napa cabs in awhile for me - this was consumed during the WNH Sunday virtual zoom tasting and to share virtually with Jason and Jennie was even more amazing - wine had legs forever - deep ruby color - smell of dark red cherries and raspberries and coco - taste and finish incredible - fruit forward delicious smooth - all of the above help create big bold beautiful in a bottle and left me with a huge smile — a month ago
Definitely an earthy, mature, savory wine from the Heights Natural Wine shop in Houston. Tobacco, cherry pit, Coco nibs, tar, bitter almond, strawberry, decomposing leaves, a definite sanguine quality. Bit of cigarette smoke on the finish.
Must be Grenache heavy-- this reminds me of a traditional rioja with 10+ years on it.
This wine is not lacking in complexity. Moderate but enduring tannins and lively acidity, though I wish there was a bit more fruit that tasted as lively as the acidity still feels. Glad I bought it, but it definitely wasn't a party starter at the VanMeurers-- too geeky and funky. — 3 months ago
Can’t put this one down.... beautiful nose of dried rose pedal, dusty rainer cherry, coco bean. Earthy. Juicy blackcherry fruit bounds on the palate accented by espresso and cedar box. Cranberry too. Outstanding length with soft, persistent tannins. Great now, only better with cellar age. — a day ago
Still doing great after 11 years. This could easily go another 2-3 years I think. Dark purple with faint hints of oxidation starting to show up. Plum, cherry, cola, tobacco, notes of coco, cassis, and blackberry on the palate. A hint of vegetal greenness on the nose, but otherwise plum and floral notes on the nose followed by tobacco and pepper. — 3 months ago
