2004. Primary: Dense core of plums, black cherry. Tertiary/secondary: aromas of earth, tobacco, chocolate, cedar, leather elegantly woven . Full bodied with fine-grained tannins and medium, supple acidity. Tightly wound with a taut balance, requires an hour decanting. — 8 years ago

Bright lemon notes, with steely, piercing acidity almost akin to Riesling, but racier and with less definition. Strong petrol-like notes with a pungent leaning towards kerosene, undertone of straw. Full bodied, little or no signs of oaking, but depth of tertiary character suggests some bottle age. — 8 years ago

9.5

2004. Delicate but intoxicatingly perfumed, with a light touch of sandalwood, earth and smoked meats that makes this a marker for a Gevrey-Chambertin. Muted notes of sour cherry and raspberries on the palate which are not quite as forward on the nose, showing it's age. Bright acidity, light body, saline with soft tannins. Complexity and intensity makes this a really, really good Premier Cru. Herbal, minty, sage undertone: a vintage characteristic(?) — 8 years ago
