This was a bit of a shocker. For $26 I expected some passable sparkling wine, on the order of J Cuvee 20. What we got was a gorgeous nose that leapt from the bottle with grilled pear. Creamy bubbles nearing what a fine champagne can do, a perfect, full but not syrupy mouth feel, and a finish that lasts about a minute, taking you on a tour of the grapes that went into the bottle. Stood up to bacon, mild cheddar, smoked Gouda and brie, and loved her bed goat cheese and manchego. This is damn good wine. — 8 years ago

This is what I wish every red wine could be. Incredible. Earthy, fruit still present... Just wow. If I could drive a Ferrari F40 with my tongue, this would be what it's like. — 9 years ago

Kind of like what Evolution used to be when it was still really Sokol-Blosser, but better. Really good dried-fruit white wine. — 9 years ago

Tastes like only the legally required amount to call it a Chardonnay. Expect a different palate! Has a buttery texture, but with the floral notes of a white Rhone, and enough acidity to cut through that thick mouth feel to make way for a nice finish. The last 30 seconds give a tour of a tidy hayloft. Orin Swift is one of my "hero" labels, and this lives up to the esteem in which I hold them.

Paired with basil grilled halibut and sauteed tomatoes, onions, and peppers. I'd give the pairing a 9.5; this wine adores food, and white fish has to be one of its favorites.
