On the nose, there is sweet cherry to be sure... Cherry brandy... A mossy, earthy note... Savory mushroom... Yup, we're in the woods... But warm... On the palate, some more green emerges perhaps... Still extremely savory though... Buttery pastry... Cherry is incredibly concentrated... Tannin is fluffy... Medium-short finish... Reading the label, I thought this would pair well with our strong-flavored barbeque, but it paired best with our beef and barley soup appetizer... I think if you could pair with something that includes filo pastry, it would do even better... — a month ago
On the nose, this is cherry and blueberry... On the palate the cherry is concentrated... The blueberry is also there... Savory, fatty... The tanning here is medium and chewy... The bright, fruity finish is just medium but the tannin lingers long... I quite like this tannin effect here. I paired this with crackers and an aged Gouda, but really I think this could have paired with a variety of foods. Decent acidity to hold its own against a variety of foods as long as they're kept simple. — 3 months ago
On the nose, there is blackberry and dark cherry... On the palate, beautiful baked blackberry tart... Maybe even some baking spices in there as well including a wee cinnamon... The mild spice of an oriental pipe tobacco lurking... Acidity is middle of the road... Blueberry makes a late appearance... The tannins here are very soft and contributing to a long length that seems to go the earthy, savory direction... — 7 days ago
On the nose, this is immediately thin-skinned lime. Some dustiness on the nose too if that makes sense... On the palate, this is mineral, that crisp lime flavor, sage... The texture is the absolute star of the show here... Such a nice medium plus body... Several steps from a patio wine. So elegant but also refreshing... Acidic but no sharp flavors here. A creek winding through smooth stones... The finish is long and somehow satisfying for such a refreshing wine... Paired with several morel mushroom courses... — 9 days ago
Really, an earthy nose here... Cherry, yes... But in a way that I'd characterize as savory black forest cake if it was made of compost instead of sweet chocolate... On the palate, the dominant note I think would be graphite, but with the fuzzy tannins in there, it's not in a precise sense... A dull pencil in need of sharpening? At this point I'd probably need to also describe some green here... Green pepper? Tomato plant? Going back to the nose, I get the aroma now too... Gardening... This wine isn't lightweight... A sausage dish is I think where I'd go as far as pairing as there's some acidity here that could be useful for taming fat. We had this one paired with a flank steak, but really I might go to a fattier cowboy steak next time. The longer I enjoy this wine, the longer the finish seems to get... These tannins are a heck of a drug... With every sip, I actually want to savor more and more... A viscious cycle... — a month ago
On the nose, this is amazing... Perfumed, dark cherry and raspberry... Kirsch... Cotton candy... On the palate, the bottom curiously drops out immediately... It goes earthy... That raspberry disappears... The cherry, a distant memory... A leathery texture here... Olive? Spoiled almost? Again, earth... Full bodied... Paired with a number of morel mushroom courses to amazing effect... That's what saves this, actually... Food almost mandatory here... Such a softening effect with creamy, flavorful dishes... In the end, even with just medium length... I like it. — 9 days ago
On the nose, this is dark cherry and warm, soft raspberry. On the palate, this is clean and again warm... Cherry... Intense cherry. But not in a sweet way. Earthy. Pepper. Tannin still very present fitteen years after the vintage giving this thing shape. Still some acidity here as well. We paired with steak... Would a stew be a better pairing? The finish feels one note back to that earthy cherry with a bit of pepper... Long though. Outstanding. — 15 days ago
Big floral and lemon nose. The nose makes be think that this will be tart and zippy. On the palate, this is more restrained though... The lemon aroma turns to lime flavor... Mineral... There's some acidity to be sure, but less than I was expecting from the nose... This settles in nicely. Round body. Not chewy, but substantial. Medium finish. Almost orange. — 2 months ago
On the nose are aromas of eucalyptus, sage, desert plants, and a wee hint of raspberry... On the palate, finally the cherry comes through in a savory way but bright... Raspberry... Pie crust... Some sage here too... Leather. Tannin is of a soft shape but the mouthfeel can be quite chewy like ballpark bubble gum... An interesting finish again evoking leather and some pepper as well. — a year ago

On the nose, this is blackberry, red cherries, red currant... Cocoa powder? On the palate, the blackberry and current is still there, but certainly some herbal notes as well... Green pepper... Dried sage... Medium body and tannins are quite pronounced at this stage... Another couple of years may have been preferred to soften a bit though this may be at the expense of the great currant up front... I feel there's some smokiness in the texture that I like here... The finish is long and makes me think of tree bark... A nice pairing for us tonight with flank steak. — 3 days ago
