The 2021 Soave Classico Otto keeps me at the edge of the glass with its delicately floral bouquet. Sweet white flowers and spice hints complement lime and green apple notes. There's a burst of green citrus intensity on the palate, along with depths of saline minerality. A balanced inner sweetness adds fantastic harmony throughout. The Otto finishes decidedly long and staining with traces of candied lime but also fresh with a reverberation of tension that keeps the mouth watering for more. This is a fantastic entry-level effort from Prà. — 2 years ago
Pleasantly floral and fresh, the 2021 Soave Classico opens with a blend of spring flowers, lime and melon. It's silky and round on the palate, slightly oily in texture, with crisp orchard fruits and juicy acidity to balance. The 2021 tapers off with a lovely inner sweetness contrasted by a tinge of saline minerals. (Eric Guido, Vinous, March 2023) — 2 years ago
Cocoa, cinnamon and clove come together with crushed plums and balsam herbs as the 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico blossoms in the glass. This is silky and enveloping yet cool-toned in feel, with depths of dark red fruits nicely contrasted by a core of saline minerality. The 2018 finishes structured and long, tugging at the palate with grippy tannins as hints of Baker's chocolate and inner rose slowly fade. This is a vertical and racy edition of Allegrini Amarone, but it will require some time to come fully into focus. (Eric Guido, Vinous, March 2023) — 2 years ago
The 2015 Valpolicella Classico Superiore lifts up with unprecedented freshness as a beautiful mix of fresh cherries, cloves and cedar is complemented by rosy florals. This is a model of purity, slightly salty in character, with crisp red fruits and sweet spice nuances. It tapers off lightly structured and perfumed, leaving the palate perfectly reset as a tinge of minerality lingers. The warm vintage 2015 is complex yet finessed. Simply stunning. Exotic to the core, the 2019 Valpolicella Superiore seduces with a bouquet of fresh mint, crushed wild berries, spiced orange rinds and menthol. It's racy and lifted on the palate with mineral-tinged strawberries and hints of citrus. This finishes with unexpected length and potency, leaving pretty inner florals and lightly grippy tannins to linger. The 2019 is such a pleasure to taste. The 2021 Soave Classico Montesei from Le Battistelle is a total pleasure from start to finish. An airy mix of sweet smoke, crushed yellow apples and lime zest form its bouquet. A pleasant inner sweetness greets the palate, as a stimulating blend of zesty acidity, minerals and candied citrus adds a lovely contrast. The 2021 finishes remarkably clean and fresh, begging for another taste.(Eric Guido, Vinous, March 2023)

There's an almost-woodsy character to the 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico. It opens with a complex blend of woodland herbs and underbrush giving way to wild berries, cinnamon sticks, shaved cedar and crushed rocks. It's surprisingly energetic yet still quite potent, with an intense wave of ripe red fruits offset by hints of spiced citrus and cloves. This finishes remarkably long, yet it maintains a vibrancy seldom seen from Amarone, as autumnal spices and staining of raspberry preserves taper off under an air of violet-tinged florals. The 2017 Amarone Classico Costasera is intense, with masses of dried black cherries and mocha complicated by spiced citrus rinds and a dusting of cocoa. This is a total pleasure on the palate, seamlessly silky and elegant with a spicy core of red fruits. The 2017 tapers off with tremendous length, staining the palate in youthful concentration yet remaining completely fresh. (Eric Guido, Vinous, March 2023) — 2 years ago
The 2019 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso Il Bugiardo wafts up with a darkly floral mix of crushed black cherries, sage and mocha. This is round and supple on the palate, lifted by cooling minerality as juicy acidity motivates its tart wild berry fruit. The 2019 tapers off with a bitter twang of balsamic spice yet leaves the mouth watering for more. Il Bugiardo is a Ripasso that readers could easily bring to the dinner table.
