I had very good experience with their 94 vintage several years ago, which is the most aged Merlot I’ve tasted, so I was curious to find out what a young one taste like.
Vibrant red fruits was prominent with ripe black fruits taking the back seat. Vanilla, cherry cola and a bit smoky and peppery notes at the end. Medium body and lean. Off dry. Simple and forgettable.
The winery was founded by Rodney Strong, but was sold to a Napa consortium in the 2010’s.
