I’ve been a long time buyer of Wendouree but have not had many of their 100% Malbec. They are only offered to club members occasionally. Often used to blend with Cabernet or Shiraz. Exhibiting plum flesh and plum skins and that often present menthol note (eucalyptus) which is detectable in many of the Wendouree Cuvées. Medium plus palate weight with medium plus intensity verging on profound intensity. Their Malbec vines date back to the 1920s. Will have the next one in a couple of years.

A little feeble in body that gets slightly overwhelmed by the oak influence
Long yes, disappointing too
Not the worst not the best

It never ends to amaze me this wine
Nose is a little reticent
Medium body
I hope the bottle in front of me gets till tomorrow to see the differences
Texturally is so outstanding that you can tell is on a different level
From blueberry to black currants
Violet, wisteria and jasmine even orange blossoms I dare
A bunch of mixed Mediterranean herbs
Gunpowder, pencils lead, a bit of tar.
Soy and watermelon are there like someone mentioned in a review of a 1990 Malbec
Silky tannin present, but absolutely not disturbing
I ‘d be surprised if I don’t finish this bottle
Fresh and too easy to drink✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️

Intensity is the word
Not so focused yet maybe, but a lot going on
The fruit is a dark cherry, almost a plum
Violet, jasmine
Stewed chestnuts, soy sauce, ink, black pepper. Eucalyptus too, but not overwhelming at all
Semi dried tomatoes and oregano 😱😱
Mouth is still tight, on the hard side; tannin is there and the freshness too. Enjoyable, but if I find another bottle we could wait easily another ten years. Super long finish.
Altogether, it’s a YES🤙🏻

Opened far too young. Tightly coiled and concentrated. Old school style, but brilliant. Power and grace. 👌🏽🍷

Deep Ruby in colour. A full bodied rendition of Malbec from the Clare Valley. Notes of savoury plum with some leather. Good wine but could cellar further.

Pretty good Malbec, but definitely made for the long haul. Would like to check in on this after another ~7 years.

Tasted amongst seven other Malbecs and was chalk and cheese to the rest and for all the right reasons. Good to go now too should you have any
