Nose of smoke, spice and charcoal. Deep cherry as well. Ripe but also superbly complex and showing secondary. Gorgeous minerals and sous bois. Palate is explosive, juicy and sweet but sadly a little warm. 14.0% in Franken in 09 is bound to show hot. Darn.

Super complex nose that is entering secondary. Super complex. Spice, leaves, earthy, savory and feral as well. Awesome. Palate is opulent and rich with great complexity and sweetness. Great spice. Complex and suave tannins. So sweet so sleek and so complex. Drinking like madness now. Terrific freshness. Long finish.

14% alc. Screw cap.

First tasted as "pop n' pour" and enjoyed again with 24 hours of air this is starting to wake up.
A VERY good PN from Franken and although the areas/AVA stylistically are different (like comparing Cab from Coombsville vs Oakville in Napa) the reference points for me for fantastic German Pinot's are still Henrik Möbitz (Baden) and Chat Sauvage (Rheingau).

Wonderful and classic Centgrafenberg nose. Forest floor, pine needles, spice, loads of mineral and some damp earth. Macerated cherries. Super aromatic. Terrific concentration and texture. Dazzling purity. A bit tight but air will cure that, but the balance and texture are extraordinary. Very long.
