75/25 Syrah/Grenache, mostly from The Rocks. Smoky embers, warm brick, beef jerky, sappy berry ooze. Spreads out in the mouth, low-toned, lots of savory elements, soft acids. Clingy finish has a certain pleasant tackiness.

Deep, dark and savory. This hits the spot right now with a delicious blend of Syrah and Grenache. Look for the ‘14, as I know there are some available for around $25-28. Perhaps you’ll find it even cheaper?

Delectable lists this as a Syrah blend, but the ‘13 is 60% Grenache. Just sayin’.

Nose is very complex. Plum juice, kirsch, dark metal shavings, sandstone, toasty baking spice. Subtle and savory in the mouth. Some dark berry fruit is there, but it’s swimming against a rip tide of dark, ashy minerality and savory notes. Long finish, with the lowish acids I have come to expect from WA State’s basaltic soils (the 40% Syrah is from Walla Walla’s Rocks District). Love it.

Mountainside growing fruits of a nose

Dark and a bit dank - dark cherries, dark plum, Árbol Chile, charcoal, dense, deep, thoughtful.
Helluva wine, this is what I have come to expect in the Rhône of the Americas. Such a value for such a grand character.

60% Grenache 40% Syrah. Fully mature and so good. Very perfumed nose. Smoky embers, actual perfume, crushed plummy red berries. Velvety soft. It’s got a softer, higher pH mouthfeel than one would expect from13.7%, but that seems to happen with regularity with Walla Walla fruit (which the Syrah is). Long savory finish. Excellent!

Table thought it was a Pinot. Ruby garnet in color and earthy cold climate Pinot flavors. High bright notes and tight acids. Only a ghost of Syrah-Grenache lurking the background.

Wild. Soy sauce, bacon? Addictive and unusual.

Mostly deep and dark, with some dried red fruit and savory smokiness showing through. Peppery and some bitterness at the end. Delicious. Went really well with filet mignon in shallot-caper vinaigrette and roasted cauliflower, asparagus, and chorizo. Good for an overcast or rainy evening ☁️ 75% old stones Syrah, 25% Olsen Grenache
