Estate Bottled Sonoma Valley Aglianico

Complex.

So this is nice and it reminds me of Napa or Sonoma cab franc compared to chinon. This is definitely not campania aglianico but it is a nice interpretation with California flare. Nose is great, but palate is all over the place. Tobacco, prunes, chocolate, berry jam, a touch of herbs and mild tannins.

Everyone liked this one better than the Sangiovese but I didn't. It was a little too earthy for me

This was uninamously bad. Taste changed over the course of a 3 hr decant, but not for the better. Started out with mushroom funk - prune punch. Almost like an Oregon Pinot, hybridized and on steroids. Evolved into bitter dark chocolate, tannic and acidic. It had an amaro feel for a while. Then finally into flab. It was never pleasant or integrated.

Big ole heavy bottle. Lovely color. Smells like a luscious pot of cooking jam. Maybe a berry jam. Strawberry and huckleberry? Flavor is very rich and very dense. Like an Italian ‘straw wine’. Nice bitter backbone mixed with cheerful cherry flavors. Kinda jammy on the finish with a raisiny element. Black tea and fig in their too. Tasty full, fulfilling wine for savoring. Oh so delectable...

Well balanced full body. Easy to drink.

Full, Rich, somewhat sweet after tastes

I couldn't handle this party of mullets. It was a mouthful of confusion; business in the front and party in the back. My palette was overwhelmed and I couldn't enjoy this wine alone. It should definitely be paired with something. If you dare. It's my first time with this grape though so maybe that's how it's supposed to be but it's not for me!

2012 vintage - strong black fruit at first taste. Drank with Andy, Megan and Connie with Italian dinner

Orr Hot Springs. Good with lamb and alone, meh with dessert and cheese
