Vincent Dancer
Bourgogne Chardonnay
Pop and pour. Notes from 24 hrs open. Better on Day 2. The nose shows lots of sweet apple and soft lemon (no reductive notes), soft mint and a touch of va. Good acidity on the palate where there is loads of lemon, wet stone and apple, together with a touch of white pepper. Good density and a vibrant finish, but just not nearly as compelling aromatically as earlier vintages.

Aug 31st, 2022Pop and pour. I was expecting to adore this wine, as I have all of the last 5 or 6 vintages, but this btl was underwhelming. On the nose: solid minerality and lemon oil, with a hint of struck match reduction, but also a disturbing hint of bruised apple. On the palate: lovely acidity, sweet apple and lemon, some soft wet stone, and good density on the tangy finish. If this btl is representative (which is totally unclear at the moment), then I far preferred the '16 and '18 at a comparable stage..maybe even a step behind the '17, which I found too oak dominant at the same age...
