On day one this was drinking far more like a S. American Cab, but on day two the true Carmenere flavors are shining through. The nose shows hot black earth, green pepper and stewed, spicy dark fruits. The palette confirms, in silky smooth fashion, with a wonderful vanilla finish (18 months in French oak). If you can't wait a day, give this one a bit of time to decant.

There's a little stank in this drank. Like dipping down to the third layer of forest floor and finding a delicious wine is what you have here.

I'm posting this at the risk of losing all credibility, but beverage professionals need to take a second look at Chilean carménere. The quality is great here (although it's very "made") and should be considered for anyone who's buying domestic Zin or Merlot and is looking for value for their guests. We may not want to drink them all the time, but these wines have a place of our lists.

Lots of new French oak - a bit extracted but drinkable

Mostly black pepper, forest floor, and tobacco on the nose with a whiff of vanilla. Definitely a food wine- preferably steak.

Peppercorns, some green pepper, earthy notes. Good acid and tannins, structure! Black peppers leather... "Elegant" MM. Explore Chile Class!

Perfect carmenere experience - tangy, earthy, smooth finish. Reminds me of the first time I ever tried this varietal (a different producer), and that's a good thing. A great table wine.
