Upon opening there was a strong nose of something unpleasant, similar to peroxide. I could detect a ripe berry, but the peroxide overpowered it. Drinking it was not a joy as it had an odd chemical taste. We dumped our glasses and it was no better an hour later. The next day the nose was better, and it tasted not as strong, but we could not drink it and dumped it out. Thankfully it was only $7.

Nose of bark, earth, smoke, light cherry/plum. Tastes green/young, hints of fruit, moderate tannin but smoky pepper finish. Would prefer less tobacco/pepper on finish. Maybe specs recommendation.

This wine is tart at first taste. I definitely recommend decanting it. But once it opens up it has great black pepper, plum and earthy flavors. I'm a huge fan of Carmenere (Chile's Malbec), but this one didn't wow me. It's good once it opens up, but it's not a stunner.
