The Marchiori Estate from Vina Cobos is sourced from the Marchiori Vineyard and is planted to 18-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted at 3,270 feet (996 meters) and Malbec vines over 80-years-old, planted at 3,264 feet. The ultra-concentrated wine is simply magical right now and starts off with anise, Black Forest cake, blueberry cordial, Asian spices and crème de cassis. The palate is dense and decadent, showing notable tannin structure with intense weight and viscosity that is downright mesmerizing. Flavors of blueberry compote, dark chocolate covered espresso bean, exotic spice, violets and blackberry cobbler all marvelously come together and linger through the finish. A complete stunner, this is one of the most compelling wines out of Argentina. While glorious now following a one hour decant, this incredible wine will continue to evolve and drink beautifully over the course of the next two decades. Drink 2019-2040- 98

Rich, deep Ruby color with pronounced songs of blackberry, cassis, violet and dark chocolate. There is a subtle and beguiling earthy note here as well and the wine is surprisingly drinkable now with supple tannins. It will be better still in two or three years but already a dazzling powerhouse. Big yet still elegant

(14.8% alcohol; made from selected blocks of the estate's oldest vines; aged for 18 months in 100% new oak): Bright saturated ruby. Wonderfully intense aromas of blackberry, cassis, bitter chocolate, graphite and licorice pastille. Then pure and explosive in the mouth, conveying outstanding creamy density without any sloppiness or undue weight. A floral element gives this seamless wine a penetrating character. Totally different in texture from the foregoing wines; this is more refined. Finishes with very suave, silky tannins and superb length, with a touch of medicinal reserve suggesting that it will age gracefully even if it has the balance to offer early pleasure. This is the Cobos Marchiori Estate Malbec. I asked Delectable to add it.

On the nose; dark currants, black licorice, blueberries, blackberries, black raspberries, creamy raspberries and strawberries. Beautiful semi-sweet dark soils, light vanilla, cinnamon clove, caramel, soft dark spice, loamy moist clay and top soil and amazing dark florals, lavender and violets.

On the palate, the body is medium full. The tannins soft, velvety with a little punch. The fruits leaner and brighter than the Bramare. Blueberries, blackberries, black raspberries, creamy raspberries and strawberries. Beautiful semi-sweet dark soils, light vanilla, cinnamon clove, caramel, soft dark spice, loamy moist clay and top soil and amazing dark florals, lavender and violet. The natural acidity is amazing. The finish is so fresh, ripe, beautifully elegant, well balanced.

Photos of, more Estate vines, wine aerator used during pump overs and chemistry set, Winemaker Andres Vignoni and a mix of young and older Estate vines on the backside of the Viña.

I’m a Malbec fan, and this was exceptional. The nose was of an ocean breeze though a field of blackberries. While black fruit was on the palate, it was more representative of sanguine and saline. Tannins completely integrated and smooth. Long lingering salty finish. Paul Hobbs, wow

Chocolate cassis and blackberries command a presence on the palate that is fabulous. This juice was the best I drank on a vineyard visit 2020.
