So pleased to have tasted through a vertical of Virginia Willcock's wines at TEXSOM. These Chardonnays have a particularly unique lemon-lime brightness, which nicely balances the new oak influence. Don't let the screwtop fool you... these are serious Chardonnays, and stand up better to time than my far-west Sonoma Coast favorites.

This producer is crazy consistent with producing exceptional Chardonnay. It's three years old and still infantile. Linear and chalky with tight green fruit still. Wish I'd waited.

Another of the big Chardonnays with a subtle beautiful elegance of a Burgundy. Flinty, oaty, lime, struck match fitting my profile for Chardonnay that challenges a little more.

Sulphide and dairy notes on the nose, the palate intense with lime and grapefruit, with toast and nougat. Oak showing a bit through back palate but the texture is glorious - silky fine - and soft acidity allows the enjoyment to linger long.
