Broquel Malbec

The 2011 vintage of this wine could potentially see its 20th Birthday. Talk about an overachiever.

From 25+ year old vines, grown at 2500' avg elevation. Grapes are hand picked into cagettes, and fermented in concrete tanks with the skins. Aged 15 months in French and American oak.

Like oak? This Malbec is for you. Super oak nuances are highlighted by brambly fruits and solid, gripping tannins. Nice long finish with a touch of vanilla.

Deep and fruity with low tannins and lots of flavor. Fabulous...

Great nose. No follow through. Diluted fruit and no finish. This is the second bottle of the '11 vintage I have had--same result.

This is a really nice Malbec for the price. I like this better than the Norton Malbec which is similar in price and rated higher on wine spectator.

Okay. A little flat on the front but open on the back.

Very good after a little bit of air

Deep purple in color with a purplish rim (still).

What a great nose on this 5 year old Malbec, of blackberries, vanilla, coke, blueberries, figs, raisins, licorice, chocolate, coffee, leather, light alcohol and peppercorn.

Full-bodied, bold, velvety and smooth with long legs and medium acidity.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blueberries, blackberries, cherries, cloves, cedar, vanilla, licorice, chocolate, espresso, dark chocolates, spices and lots of black pepper.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and peppercorn.

This wine aged beautifully. Balanced and smooth, with complexity and nuances that were not there only a couple of years ago.

Probably at its peak right now, so drink up.

The grapes were hand picked, and aged in oak barrels for 15 months.

14.5% alcohol by volume.
