Dark, brooding, delicious. Round, lush and elegance on top of elegance. Lush, perfectly ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, black plum. Smooth dark spice, dark chocolate, sandalwood, candied, dark, red florals framed in violets & lavender, excellent acidity. Balanced, perfect tension & structure and beautiful elegant finish that lasts 90 seconds.
Andy Beckstoffer sold fruit for $150 a ton in the late 1970’s, early 80’s. Today, $50,000 plus a ton and a percentage of the producers bottle price.

This is very special. So well balanced on the nose and palate.
Acids and tannins are rounded, and fine. Strong red currant flavors are presented with blueberries and cinnamon. So well moderated. Beautiful example.

Among the best 2011 wines I’ve had, I pulled the cork and this was good to go. Tobacco and kirsch on the nose. Explosive dark fruit on the palate, super soft and silky mouthfeel, full bodied, just amazing to me. 72/28 Cab Sauv/Cab Franc.

Jun 24th, 201853/47 cab sauv/cab franc all from To Kalon. Blueberries, blackberries and mocha mix with earth and minerals. This wine is very balanced and the tannins are still very present especially on the finish. Decanted two hours. Will be fun to revisit this in a few years to see how it evolves, though perfectly delicious now.

Rich, complex, ripe but not overly so & balanced by good acidity. There's still strong tannins but the ripe fruit makes it a smooth, plush drink. There's definitely some earthiness in the mid and finish.
