Does Syrah get better than this in 1998? Maybe if it's Reynard.... Could use a few more years in the cellar, but 5-10 years is not going to hurt it at all.

May 22nd, 2019Another great Allemand showing black cherry, raspberry, hung meat, black olive, gun flint, violet and licorice. Besides the amazing aromatics and complexity this had elegance, balance along with a silky texture and long finish.

I don't think it gets much better. Aromatics are a mix of secondary/savory notes with perfumed florals adding levels of complexity. Plenty of power, dark fruit mixed with clove & meaty notes. Despite the power & detail, this is pretty much ethereal when it comes to palate weight. @Matthew Bigby - I treasure your generosity. This was truly exceptional.
