A very relaxed wine. Richly flavored but balanced. Nose has sweet spice cake, ripe blackberry fruit, and a bit of warm moist earth. Rich but not overly weighty in the mouth. A bit of tannin to resolve. Lengthy and pure finish. Complex, not really. Satisfying? Absolutely!

Jan 13th, 2017Simply amazing. These 1800's vines produce Zinfandel grapes of superb quality, and the TDO winemakers treat them with respect - no jamminess, no crazy high alcohol, no residual sweetness. Recommend to friends who hate Zinfandel!

Clean slate, anise and spice notes. Pure ripe berry medium body bright juicy acidity. Delish pis fruit lip smacking fruit all the way the ought the finish.

Wanted to score this higher, but the alcohol really dominated this monster — they are clearly working with great material, but this hi octane offering was WAY over the top for me. Big, bumbling, clumsy, this definitely had copious quantities of dark fruit & spices, some cocoa, vanilla, leather, etc. but it was like motor oil viscosity without a deft hand… some people enjoy this style and by all means, drink what you like.

Nov, 2019. Wine Enthusiast sale. Pale ruby color, medium bodied wine full of red fruit. Not getting any spice or complexity here. Easy to drink.
